The BPG meets each year at the Annual British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) Conference in July. The meeting consists of an Annual General Meeting followed by a symposium on a specific theme of photodermatology with invited guest speakers followed by short papers. A prize is awarded to the best presenter.

The BPG Annual General Meeting 2026 was held in Manchester on 2nd July.

BPG Prizes 2026: The BPG prize for the best trainee oral presentation was awarded jointly to Ioannis Theocharopoulos for the presentation: “Xeroderma pigmentosum complementation group C: a retrospective observational study of 46 patients reveals skin cancer heterogeneity dependent on the level of nucleotide excision DNA repair” and to Mark Eisner for the presentation: “Omalizumab for solar urticaria: experience from six UK tertiary photodiagnostic services”. The BPG prize for the best poster was awarded to John Warner-Levy for the poster: “The Photoaggravated Eczema Area and Severity Index: development and reliability of a clinical measure for photoaggravated atopic dermatitis”.

Guest speakers 2026: We welcomed two excellent guest speakers in Manchester in 2026: Professor Ann Webb – Know your UV: Pitfalls and Projections; and Professor Katherine Payne: Exploring a ban on commercial sunbed use: an economic (UK) perspective

La Roche Posay fellowship presentation 2026: Dr Carol Cunningham gave an oral presentation about her fellowship: “Photosensitivity in the Connective Tissue Disease Spectrum”.

BSID

The BPG provides a guest lecture every 3-4 years at the British Society for Investigative Dermatology (BSID) annual meeting.

At the annual BSID meeting in Southampton in April 2024, Prof Sean Whittaker (St Johns Institute of Dermatology, Kings College London) gave a stimulating and thought-provoking invited BPG Guest Lecture on ‘UVR and T cells’.
